It’s a universal curriculum for maximizing performance and satisfaction in any area — from personal relationships and marriage to the workplace, sales settings, and beyond. Relationship Wealth combines proven principles from various schools of thought, including psychology, physics, sociology, biology, emotional intelligence, industry best practices, and relationship building.
What is emotional intelligence?
The term “emotional intelligence” emerged in 1990, when two psychology professors, John D. Mayer of UNH and Peter Salovey of Yale, wrote a research paper about traditional and emerging ideas about intelligence — specifically social and emotional intelligence, also known as emotional quotient (EQ). According to Mayer, emotional intelligence encompasses:
- The ability to accurately perceive your own and others’ emotions
- The ability to understand the signals that emotions send about relationships
- The ability to manage your own and others’ emotions.
Although initial research was limited within the arenas of psychology and social science, experts eventually began to establish the importance of emotional intelligence in the context of business leadership and other areas. Now, there are countless books, research papers, and courses all focused on the concept of emotional intelligence.
So, what do we mean by the “evolution” of emotional intelligence?
While we now have many resources and tools for evaluating and assessing emotional intelligence, it remains difficult to teach. The Relationship Wealth curriculum focuses on practical applications of EQ, making it more user-friendly and easier for everyday people to understand.
